Winning Like A Boss

Everyone wants to win. No one wants to be left behind, yet, we do not do what we need to to get to where we want to be. One thing we miss is how important it is to think like a winner. What are your goals and objectives? Do you just want to make (more) money, or do you want to be fulfilled on a deeper level? Whatever your answer, if you think it and believe it, it is so.

Every dream begins with a thought. The more you think about, the more likely you are to take the necessary steps (do the work) you need to take to get there.

The mind is the most powerful tool in the universe, but making it work for you takes practice. You must continue to use your power of positive thinking until it becomes a habit. Dreaming is great as long as you add action to it. Everyday do something, take at least one step that gets you closer to your ultimate goal.  This is you investing in you. Don’t wake up at some point and think, if only I had… Life is short, but, as long as you have breath and ability, it  is never too late to make your dreams a reality.

To assist you on your quest, I have started a series of eBooks, the first of which is currently available on Amazon Kindle. The title is Winning Like A Boss, Make Power Moves by Developing a Power Mindset. In this first installment, you will get an overview of what developing a Power Mindset looks like. In future installments, these factors will be expanded to give you a clearer understanding. These principle are for business, but can also be used fr any aspect of your life. I am writing to women in particular, however, anyone male or female can benefit from the principles discussed. I hope you will check out the book and let me know how it benefits you by leaving a review. Please let me know what points make sense to you as well as what you would like to delve deeper into. This will help guide me into the next installment. You can follow this link to get to the eBook. Good luck on your quest.

Surround Yourself With People You Want To Emulate

As entrepreneurs, we have to find ways to keep ourselves motivated. It’s true that you take on the traits of those you associate with;  as successful as they are because birds of a feather flock together. If you want to be successful and stay motivated you most be sure to connect with that type of people you want to be. For instance, if you want to be the best real estate agent, find the most successful agent you can and network with them. It calls for a little time and research, but you can do it. Of course there are those folks who cross our path organically, these are my favorites.

These folks get it, they live their lives out loud. Their always reaching out to help others. They usually have a story and their story is always inspiring. I have been fortunate to have a few of them in my circles. They are sent by God at exactly the right time and always, always leave  in you a better place than before the entered your realm.  They are usually dynamic and shine as bright as any star. They never try t sell you, they just share their knowledge and just by a conversation with them you feel re-enforced,re- energized. Sometimes, they just ask “What can I do for you?”  I live to meet these people.   I pray that I am one of them.

I was talking with my daughters, and one of them  mentioned a comment an associate of hers had made about me. It was such a great feeling to know someone admired what I do and what I stand for. I learned long ago to not bombard folks with all the information about myself. I enjoy getting to know about them and then offering a collaborative idea t help the both of us. This is the first step to becoming successful; help as many as you can because in essence, you are helping yourself.

So, improve your skill set, think as successful people do, let others share their story, help as much as you can, share your own story, watch the company you keep and stay on your path. Most importantly, stay positive.

What Is A Leader By F. John Reh

I found this article and thought it interesting so I will share it here:

At the most basic level, a leader is someone who leads other. But what makes someone a leader? What is it about being a leader that some people understand and use to their advantage? What can you do to be a leader? Here’s what you need to know and do.

A leader is a person who has a vision, a drive and a commitment to achieve that vision, and the skills to make it happen. Let’s look at each of those in detail.

The Leader’s Vision

A leader has a vision. Leaders see a problem that needs to be fixed or a goal that needs to be achieved. It may be something that no one else sees or simply something that no one else wants to tackle. Whatever it is, it is the focus of the leader’s attention and they attack it with a single-minded determination.

Whether the goal is to double the company’s annual sales, develop a product that will solve a certain problem, or start a company that can achieve the leader’s dream, the leader always has a clear target in mind. This is a big picture sort of thing, not the process improvement that reduces errors by 2% but the new manufacturing process that completely eliminates the step that caused the errors. It is the new product that makes people say “why didn’t I think of that”, not just a toaster that lets you select the degree of darkness of the toast. Edison did not set out to build a better candle, he wanted to find a whole new way to illuminate the darkness. That’s the kind of vision a leader has.

The Drive To See It Through

It is not enough to just have a vision. Lots of people see things that should be done, things that should be fixed, great step forward that could be taken. What makes leaders different is that they act. They take the steps to achieve their vision.

Is it a passion for the idea, an inner sense of drive, or some sense of commitment? Whatever it is, it is the strength that lets leaders move their vision forward despite all the obstacles, despite all the people saying it can’t be done, it’s too costly, we tried that before, or a dozen other excuses. The true leader perseveres and moves forward.

Trait And Skills A Leader Must Have

There are things that set leaders apart from other people. Some people are born with these characteristics. Others develop them as they improve as leaders. These are not magic bullets. They are things you can do and be if you want to be a leader.

Traits Of A Leader

There are as many traits of a leader as there ae lists of what makes a leader. Here are the fundamental traits of a leader from my perspective:

    • Has integrity. People have to believe that you are pursuing your dream because it’s the right thing to do, not just because you are ego driven.
    • Is a people person. Understands the differences that make people unique and is able to use those individual skills to achieve the goal.
    • Is positive. A leader encourages and rewards people and makes you want to do it and do it right. A leader is not a negative person and doesn’t waste time and effort telling everyone what they’re doing wrong.

Leadership Skills

Beyond the personal traits of a leader, there are specific skills someone must master if they want to be a leader.

    • Effective communication – it’s more than just being able to speak and write. A leader’s communication must move people to work toward the goal the leader has chosen.
    • Motivation – a leader has to be able to motivate everyone to contribute. Each of us has different “buttons”. A leader knows how to push the right buttons on everyone to make them really want to do their best to achieve the leader’s goal.
    • Planning – the leader has a plan to achieve the goal. He/she doesn’t get too bogged down in the details, that’s what managers are for, but rather uses a high level plan to keep everyone moving together toward the goal.

Bottom Line

Leaders dream dreams. They refuse to let anyone or anything get in the way of achieving those dreams. They are realistic, but unrelenting. They are polite, but insistent. The constantly and consistently drive forward toward their goal. You can be a leader. You will be – when it matters enough to you.

Company Background – LegalShield

LegalShield is one of the first companies in the United States to offer affordable legal plans to consumers and businesses It was founded as Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc.in Ada, Oklahoma by Harland C. Stonecipher as a result of an automobile accident. Although Stonecipher was not at fault, his legal bills quickly mounted. While he had auto, medical and life insurance, the one safeguard he did not have was legal protection.

In 1972, Stonecipher turned his experience into a vision – a vision to make legal services accessible to millions of Americans – and a reality.

The company’s first product was designed to help middle income Americans get quality legal assistance without first having to make a financial decision. It reimbursed a portion of an individual’s legal costs in automobile related matters and was marketed solely to employee groups. However, this required members to find an attorney on their own. Many had never consulted with an attorney and had a difficult time finding lawyers who understood their needs, would return their calls in a timely manner and who were willing to work with them on the even the most minor legal matters.

LegalShield evolved its model and developed a plan that was easier to use and removed the burden from the member of finding a dependable lawyer who would treat them as one of their best clients. It also expanded its plans to offer legal services to individuals, families and small business owners.

The company changed its name to LegalShield in 2011, but its goal remains the same as it did 40 years ago – to provide outstanding legal coverage by quality law firms at an affordable price.Today the company provides legal services to more than 1.4 million families covering 3.5 million lives across North America and more than 34,000 companies offer the LegalShield plan to their employees as a voluntary or fringe benefit. LegalShield is the only national legal safeguard to provide its members with access to quality legal services from an  accomplished law firm in their state or province for legal advice and assistance no matter how trivial or serious the issue.

For a low monthly fee, LegalShield members get access to qualified attorneys who are  experts in the areas of law that most impact families and small businesses.LegalShield provides dedicated provider law firms throughout the U.S. and Canada enabling members to feel as though they have their own personal law firm to call for help without having to worry about high hourly rates. LegalShield has dedicated law firms in 49 states and four provinces in Canada. The attorneys have been with their respective law firms for an average of 19 years and have the expertise and experience to navigate members through a variety of everyday legal issues such as family matters, estate planning, financial and business issues, consumer protection, tax, real estate, benefits disputes and auto/driving issues.LegalShield firms have received more than 2.1 million calls from members in the past 12 months.

Determined Thoughts

In the business world as in life, determined thoughts disperse the clouds of negative situations. A lot of negative situations are bound to come our way, especially when you are reaching for your goals.  This  can result in grief, pain and disappointment. Whenever such difficulties arise, they may feel to you as though they are insurmountable and seem to last forever. We  need to recognize that the difficulties we face are like passing clouds. We must remember that these clouds that gather around us, are only temporary – sooner or later they will fade away. Understanding that no problem lasts forever will help us develop the determination we need to work on our problems. We will then be able to face any situation with more resoluteness. Each time we are faced with these “clouds” we will become stronger and better able to deal with them with relative ease. That that does not kill us only makes us stronger.  To your success!
